dsl help (resolved :))

just activated my new verizon dsl connection... speeds are good :)
but there's a problem - i can't upload anything. nothing at all. surfing is fine, but when i go to dslreports.com to test the connection, my network monitor shows the downstream being used but upstream staying at 0kb/s and the test times out saying that no upload speed could be detected.
and i also can't submit longs posts + yahoo mail doesn't work when on dsl (with dialup everything works).
what could be causing this? are there things i could do before i call verizon and spend hours on the phone with them?

Are you connected to a router? Because I also had serious problems with upstream connections while using DSL. I don't remember exactly what happened, but I believe that updating the router's firmware fixed some of it.
If you -are- on a router, and you call the tech support, they will most likely tell you to try bypassing the router and testing the connection directly, so you should try that first - if it works then, then either your router needs updating, is configured incorrectly, or the ISP has done something to block routers (I've seen that happen before, where routers just stop working for no explainable reason).
If it's not a router, I don't know what to tell you. |

dear god... you gave me an idea... not search google but go on the ROUTER FAQ... thanks, i did what they told me and it worked :)
basically, i forgot that i had my hub set up for static ip since i used in in college... resetting it to PPPoE worked wonders.
what kinda bothers me though is that last night i used the modem without the hub and upload didn't work... oh well, it works now, i'm a happy camper :D |

lol, hehe, because of the stupid upload thing i got banned from the essentials hub till saturday (sharedetect got disconnected 4 times while downloading file list) :whip::whip:
