When there's something stuck in the record groove

Its like.. I always have to buy the records that have dust stuck in the groove. When I play them, on the spot where the dust is, it cause the needle to jump over a few lines... it ruins everything.. even if it does that only once on the track... if it's at the start or the end, you can't mix it... and if its in the middle of it... well it sounds just ugly. it is like having a cd that skips.
:whip: :whip:
I tried lots of things: using a brush, full pressure weight and playing it slow or fast forcing the dust to get out of the groove, scratching around the area... sometimes it works but it cause some real bad damage to the groove making it sound like an old audio tape. (It was already been discussed and applying more pressure is not very wise solution if you love your records)
Is there a way to get ride of this problem without damaging my records.
maybe water ? gruv-glide (Does that help for my problem ?)
It happens like in every 1 out of 15 to 20 records that i buy. Its getting on my nervs. |

hmm.. if it's happening to that many rekkids, you might want to re-evaluate the needles you're using. Although i've played on a wide range of needles and only once have had the problem you describe. My biggest peev is ordering a rekkid from overseas and when it arrives, the thing is dished and curved so it spins like mad on the slipmat and you can't mix into it :P it's only happened twice, but still, that's 2 good tracks that i can't find anymore, and can't play cuz they're warped
anyways, back to your problem. Check out yer needles, maybe try a different pair or try your vinyl elsewhere on a different deck or a friends set up and see if they have the same problem. full weight on the tonearm isn't a great idea either if you want to keep your vinyl for any amount of time, although when playing a large party, it's essential to stop the 10' high speaker stacks from bouncing yer tracks ;)
If all else fails, get a kids microscope (doesn't have to be that powerful) and zoom in on the bad spot and see actually what is happening
