| I dont know if any of you realized this or not, but when I work on my synths and songs during 2 3 am in the morning they sound insaaanely good but when I hear the same thing in the morning im like ah wat is this crap lol even though it seemed crazy at night. Does this happen to any of you guys too. just curious |

| Ah , your not alone, this isn't something unheard of . I have the same problems , and many other producers suffer from late night production horrors. I don't have any scientific theories but i think it's probably due to being tired. maybe the brain isnt working at its most efficient levels or the ears get tired from hours of listening. who knows, all i know is i work better between 6-11pm :) |

| Used to happen to me ALL the time when I first started 2 years ago, but nowadays, I find that I make better synths/music in the wee hours of the night. I guess I got used to my sound, and how my mind/body works then. :D -Mental |

I think it also has something to do with your brain adapting to the sound... Like think of the last time you did this - where you did a certain mix alllll night long, and by the end of the night you thought it was the best thing ever... Cut to the next morning when you think its crap... Cut to later that morning/day when you're listening to it to find the bad parts... then suddenly, the more you listen to it, the better it sounds, until you're back to thinking its the best again. Then the next morning same thing, over and over again until it actually DOES sound good.... This is kind of similar to listening to some song or style of music you HATE, but then after an hour you don't hate it so much anymore.
Because of this I try to go back and forth between my mix and my favorite pro song again and again, so my brain can keep the distinction. In reality this doesn't happen alot, but I try. |

Yeah, not only the song itself, but it happens when u ar mastering too, ears get used to the frequencies. Thats what they call "tired ears".
May happen whenever u get too much time working, without refreshing your reference of good sound, u "shift" your concept of normality towards what u r doing, when when u get fresh ears again, u notice the diference u coudnt bfor, like Mikey said.
Refresh your ears constantly by listening to some songs that hav similar styles or sounds with the one u r working, so u dont get this shifting in your perception, and AWAYS listen to it next day.
Dun forget too that if u ar sleepy, tired, drunk, or whatever other altered state of councious, your levels of perceptions change and u can feel music diferently, especialy in terms of speed, but also in frequencies and such |

| Oh yeah man, and I hate that :D I do the same as NG now, keep listening to other songs, every 15 minutes or so. |

Holy , it's true.. last night production sounds today not so good ... "NO-OMG I DIE" today :)
It's a top topic!
Another familiar feeling is when you play your song 1st time to your friends. Don't know why it sounds so ty then :) Last night was it sooo good ... and now ??!!?? Why?? :)

haha, the life of 90% of the people browsing the production forum on this board I think :D
I get my inspiration at times where I really SHOULDN'T .. like when I'm supposed to be really focusing on a study etc.. that sucks for real. It's ike 'study study ... music muuuuuuuuuuuuusic...aaargh' |

i´m most creative in the late night! dont know why it is this way (perhaps because i´m a person who likes to sleep the day and work/party @ night)!
from my standpoint late night is the best producing-time, because you have a lot of things you can think about, when you´re alone and dreaming, which inspire you!
damn, my english is sooo bad!:haha: |
