| this thread might be very old, but I feel I have to comment, first of all, donīt know why MP3īs are such a touchy subject, everybody download them,we all know that.. second donīt know why you would ever wanna dowload an Mp3 using the webb, not when Direct connect is around.:conf: |

| It's more touchy because people don't make millions like Jennifer Lopez or No Limit. People sometimes do really need to sell CD's in order to make a living. When someone dl's an MP3 of an album or song they just take away from the artist profit. |

MP3s are a touchy subject because they hurt the sales of record labels, which causes a whole mess of things. If you produced a track and people were downloading it and distributed it before you saw 1 penny from the sale how would you feel? This has been discussed in countless threads so no point getting into it.

I think that most of the people who are DJs & producers make most of their money from DJ gigs, not from record sales. Many of them don't mind if you download their music, because they recognize how helpful it is in spreading their names and getting large audiences to know them, who will then in turn come see them when they spin somewhere...
In any case, I think the _real_ reason TA is so touchy about file sharing is because as a large internet site, TA is subject to observation from the dickweeds at the RIAA. If they got the notion that we supported mp3s, then they would come shut TA down. And nobody wants that. |

Does the RIAA even represent any trance artists? They're mainly concerned with money. People downloading trance songs isn't going to hurt their revenue, so I can't see them being that concerned about us. There are enough pop sites that offer top 40 downloads for them not to give a crap about a site like TA.
Further to that, this site isn't based in America, so that throws another cog in the wheels. |

| i figure most EDM artists earn a living through 1. record sales (not necessarily CD sales) which dont earn alot a money in the first place and 2. DJ Gigs. whats all this ruckus about mp3 sharing then when they get most of their pay from the clubs? (just my assumption, step back flamers :menacing:) |
