I'm still learning a lot of things in production, and looking around the group I have read a lot of people talking about filter envelopes.
Would anyone mind explaining, what these do?
And also how 2 use/create them in FL Studio.

Filter envelopes work just like amplitude/volume envelopes in that they effect the attack, decay, sustain, release and all the in between about the single sound key strike.
These can be manipulated in the instrument panel in FL where you see the seperate tab buttons under INS, which are PAN, VOL, CUT, RES, PITCH.
play with the to find out how they change the sound... that's your homework for this evenin'.
have fun! |

Filter envelopes affect the use of the filter. The Flt attack determines the attack of the filter. If you have it set mid way, you should be able to hear the filter either open or close (depending on the filter type you are using) as the sound gets played.
Play around with the amp envelopes and see what changes they make. Then you should have a better understanding of what the envelopes will do to the filter. On some synths, you have to turn the filter envelope on, or up. There is often a dial somewhere which determines how much effect the filter envelope has on the final sound. |
