I'm sure I'm misspelling his name but what the hell.
There's a clip on TMF nowadays from him, a new track. Jeezes christ, how lame can they get anyway ? They take the sounds from the last and only hit they could get since the other sounds they made sucked, and they got themselves a new track .. I mean come on, that's uncool :( ? If every artist started doing that I think I'm going to trade in my stereo for a couple of new fish that i could watch or something. What do you guys think of that latest track ? I don't know the name, was to shocked to wait for the title to appear :P |

It's Barthezz I think and I haven't heard the track but from what you're saying it probably sounds similar to 'on the move' and 'infected'. He/They is a commercial electronica producer, it's no surprise that the songs sound the same cuz they figure "the last song was a hit, if I make this one sound the same it'll be a hit too."
Anyway, there's always going to be cheese and it'll continue to get worse...best bet is to not listen to it and listen to only quality stuff instead. |

Using the similar sounds from their hits is what artists do...well most of the time. You can listen to a Neo& Farina productions and they sound pretty much similar as well as manyother producers. Sort of a signature. Nothing's wrong with that. ;)
And no, he's not related to me and in no way am i defending him...just something i thought. :tongue3 |

yup, exactly my thought... when a good artist does it, it's 'his sound' (mike) but when some cheesy artist does it it's just cheap...
anyway, it's still cheese and i'm glad i haven't heard the track, still...
owyeah and will you please stop bitchin' about atrc... we already know 'it sux' ( )... let it go? |

I don't like what mike is doing either, but that barthezz track is even more obvious. It's like that Darude dude, who made two tracks that I could barely keep appart, I always thought it was one song, but then found out it were two lol :D
Mike uses the same sound since .. forever ? It's not because I'm from belgium that I like what he is doing. I'm not saying he sucks, because he does make cool tunes and all that, but it's just sad that they stick to one sound. That sound Tiesto used in that remix from Adagio For strings (?) was so cool, I had never heared that sound before, so that ing ruled. I feel a producer has the possibilities to create any sound, he doesn't have to stick to a guitar or anything, so he should use that, and not stick to whatever he once made and made loads of cash with. |

Johan Gielen was once respected and considered skillful, until he turned into a complete repetitive ing clown. He had his sound until it got annoying and far more than anyone could take. Nobody likes him today. Tiesto suddenly ditched his own style and started producing "techno". Above & Beyond didn't, and are nowadays producing sleeping pills. Signum abandoned their sound too soon and even they didn't know what they were doing for a while. Scared less by the audience, and trying to renew their sound.
AVB still manages to keep his own sound alive, but nobody knows for how long that will last.
My point is, this is how the audience works.
EVERYTHING* gets repetitive and eventually annoying. It doesn't matter if it's "cheese" or a "good artist".
*not Way Out West. I'm afraid that's just not possible. |
