How long does it take you (average) to finish a track ? i'm talking about finished, but unmastered.

Just would like to know, since the famous guys always say like 'Yeah in 6 months it's going to be released, it's killer'. I'm sure theer's marketing time in between and stuff like that, but how long do they take usually ? I saw Limp Bizkit for example finish an entire album in two weeks, that's insane lol.

No, limp bizkit would have started writing the tracks and laying them out in their heads way before that.

Id say, the full proccess could take a healthy full month at the least.

I tend to quit a track if Im not happy with it by the next morning after I started it.

yes that's true, so the texts were written, and they figured what it was going to sound like. But still it was very impressive to see them and the producers at work. 'Add this there .. that there .. let's do this where the kick comes and blabla'. Amazing, anyway not important, but I was just saying why I would like to know :)

Depends on the tune, the artist. Remixes take less time than orginals. A artist say like, Ron van Bueken (same guy behind "The Mystery") if you notice every single remix he did after his big tune "Timeless" has the same lead synth sound, kick, bassline, everything. His last 2 remixes sound the same . He probably just switch the midi parts, did a few little percusion arrangements hear and there, eq, compression and the rest is pretty much done. He probablt finished those remixes in a day or so. Plug n Play baby!

hmmm... depends on.. i have finished some track's in just some hours... sometimes over a day... sometimes a week

it can take like a month.. depends on the creativity.

and sometimes it can be like i finish it in like a day.. but i'm going back to it like a week later or something and maybe just add something little or change something
TranceMasterUk
can range from 1 day to 2-3 months
all depends on how much time i spend on it, and if im focused on it.

sometimes i can leave it for a while, then go back to work on it a few weeks/months later.

I tend to make my best songs in 30 minutes. Just the basics I mean of course, it ll take a few days - weeks to finish it off completely.

If I check http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gabriel_-_Dresden site then I realize that every week new track or remix :)
But I think they have no time at all :) because of the promo, dj'ng, events, deadlines -> maybe laptop only helps creating new ideas on road :)
