Yeah, that sucks, the last part especially - I may fight to death on some issues, but when I lose, at least I admit I was wrong without trying to shrug it off. When you get into an argument and someone never admits that they weren't 100% right, you can't even make up with them later, it just gets steadily worse. You try to forget about it but as soon as another argument comes, you remember it all again and it keeps building up tension.
Mind you, this leads to another pet peeve: people who have an excuse for everything. |
yes, that's what i mean exactly. i tend to fight to death with most any argument, just because i love debating. it's not like i get heated over it, i just calmly love to analyze every little detail of the subject i am conversing about with the other person who has a different point of view, to either show them why i think mine is right, or have them show me why i am wrong. some people can't stand that, and up till now, those people have been the ones that are wrong. you really learn about about a person's character when you engage in analytical debate over their point of view, and when they are proven wrong, or even slightly incorrect, or the conversation becomes too much for them to handle, they regress into childish 5 year old type behavior, either trying to kill the importance of the subject or making it seem like you are the one who is wrong, simply because you choose to think things through before emitting an opinion.
people like that are the 99% population of today's highschools. it really puts me to shame when i hear these people express themselves and act childish, and have to admit the fact that we are classmates. it's not that i think i am superior to them, that i am more advanced, rather that for their age, they should be more mature and be able to defend their point of view in a civilized and intellectual manner, rather than screaming and throwing fits because they aren't even smart enough to lay out why it is they think the way they do. then again, for the most part, if they were smart enough to do this, they probably wouldn't think they way they do.

another pet peeve:
-people with small vocabularies, that think you are arrogant because you use what to them are "big words". also, the ones that think that you are trying to show off, and don't realize that there are actually some people who can use those ever elusive "big words" in a normal conversation. |

- People who use the excuse "It wasn't my fault because I was drunk". If you choose to drink, then you assume all responsibility for your actions according to your decision.
- People who know jack about the world - as in nations, societies, etc.
That's about it |

That too! I always think there are so many stupid people in EE, but then it occurs to me that they're not actually stupid, they're just lazy and love to bitch.

Yeah it's great with my friend... I breeze through all the signal processing courses, teach him everything because he knows , and his average in the course ends up being 12 points higher. :whip: Damn hell, he must be cheating somehow, he does nowhere NEAR the amount of work to get the average he has! |

automated systems...so convenient right?
people who talk too much
people who include too many irrelevant details in a story
people who walk slow in the mall in front of you
people who try to drop you hints about something negative (or something they are mad about), but are too scared to just come out and say it, so they make a “joke” about it.
im noticing the word "people" a lot in this thread:p |
