Aaron played a fantastic set. Clubbers in Toronto are fortunate to have a dj who is as passionate and diverse in his music. The night was one of the best I've had in many years.
It was nice to meet Aaron & Heidi after all these months of communication via email and im. Hopefully next time he'll be headlining the main stage.
I'll be able to visit Toronto this summer (hopefully) and would love to meet some of you here on the boards. Been a while since I was last down there (Labour of Love 1st Annual).

The Quest is a very cool bar...really pretty space. The main room which typically houses epic trance nights has an old theatre appeal to it with a cool mezzaine level. The Ascot room where Aaron was spinning is a funkier darker room that has more of a System Soundbar vibe. Cool peeps, great tunes and no attitude. Lawler and Sander who recently visited the venue both prefer the smaller space as does Corsten who will be visiting the same room on his upcoming tour.
The EB night was wicked. I was told that most of the Minneapolis kids love their epic trance and are not well versed when it comes to anything that strays too far from that but Mossey worked his magic and pulled them towards the prog and breaks goodness enough to leave the main room dance floor empty for most of the night! After dropping DJ Remy's Dustsucker and "Electricity" Safe Party Mix the kids on the dancefloor were there to stay!!
I meet some terrific people, all who expressed the fact that they are extremely jealous of all of the shows we get to enjoy in this city. I suppose we take that for granted ...I know I do sometimes. I was telling them all about the great local talent we have in the TATO community and hopefully have persuaded a few to roadtrip it up to visit us for a TATO invasion night!
Local boys who spun along side Mossey were:
Shawn Luke (watch for this guy in the future..he opened the night and all of the tracks he dropped were his own. Some incredible productions...beautiful down tempo, Bedrock sounding stuff). Perfect opening set for a Prog and Breaks night!
Phil Martinez, founder of eccentricbeats.com, followed with a wicked breaks set. After seeing the size of the crowd, and realizing he had organized himself a successful night and had finished a great set... he let loose and was an inspiriation to all in the room. However, I did keep MY shirt on. ;)
Moksha (Jimmy), who closed the night, graced us with some fab electro and minimal techno beats...with a surprise guest who scratched his way into all our hearts! Jimmy's hip thrust and "cowboy" are legendary in the city of Minnie...and I now know why!
Fyi, I will have pictures of the night for all to see soon. |

Hi Guys,
Home safe and sound, and with some great memories of Minneapolis. Let me begin by saying what nice people....meeting Phil(promoter) and his crew....I had a great time hanging with you guys. Also, I must say I met an amazing new producer from that area named Shawn Luke aka BinaryZero. He openned the night with a set of his original productions.....WOW......think Polefolder meets Muzo B meets Yunus Guvenen. I have asked that he send me some of his original full lengths that I will be hammering at my Pulse and System nights. His is one name you should look out for.
To the night: Well I'm pretty sure it was one of my best live sets yet. The place filled up really nice...and early too. By the second or third track everyone was firmly locked in and showing tons of energy for my set and I made sure to give just as much back. The place was rocking with cheers, hands in the air and even people chanting CANADA over and over throughout my whole set. My mixing stayed solid throughout and the soundsystem rumbled hard :)
Some of my biggest tunes of the night included:
Mikrokosmos - Two Places (Absolut & Greed remix)
Meat Katie vs Chistian J - Turn Me Out (Original)
Inkfish - How Can I Believe
Land Between Grooves - Electricity
Hyper - Outsider
Dirty Bass - Emotional Landscape
Trafik - Your Light
After the set many people came up saying they can't wait until I play there again and I heard from the promoter that the place was more busy and hopping than when Sander Kleinenberg played that room......pretty amazing I thought since it was my first time there and such and also because the main draw in that area is usually either Epic trance or minimal techno.
Small world: I also ran into a guy who came up and said "This is actually my second time seeing you live.....I was in TO a while back and saw you at System". I thought that was neat and laughed at the odds.
Anyway, I was really happy with the night and loved meeting some great new people and promoters in the US....talk to you guys soon.
Once the pics and video get sorted I will post them and I might record a set mirroring what I played for those here...which I will also post.
Thanks for the support guys.........I really wish you were there too :)
