rave or not?

Hey
Just something that keeps bugging me.
As far as I know "rave" in europe is DEAD.
However when I speak to my friends from overseas, they
keep refering to parties as raves, most of the time
they think of trance and techno as the same thing etc...
I just call it a PARTY, just depends what kind, trance, techno, house, hardcore... such as you'll see in any flyer for example in Holland.
So what the hell is with raving around the world :haha:

Actuall ravers are alive and well where I live (phat pants, candy ) but I think the parties are called dance music festivals (for large parties) or dance music events (for smaller parties)

I still use the term 'rave' :)

I believe "clubbing" is more popular than "raving" these days.

yea no one says "rave" here anymore. Telling ppl Im going to a rave is just bad news nowadays for me.

we live in a post-rave world. saying you're a raver will soon be as anachronistic as saying you're a hippie. get over it, get on with the times.

Damn. I might be drunk right now but who the cares. call it whatever. get over it it doesn't matter. raving, clubbing, groovin, dancing whatever. As long as we're supporting the EDM scene and the trance scene who gives a . I just tell my friends i'm going "trancing". But really it doesn't matter IMO.

Breeze
who cares really but all my friends just say the Dj's name. eg. "are you going to Tiesto?"

:) i think 'rave culture' died a long time ago, it came about the time when new laws were bought in (in this country at least) where the police could arrest anyone within 5 miles of a 'rave' even if you were just walking your dog

the tabloids were particularly harsh on rave culture blaming it for all sorts

so i do believe it is dead, nowadays people just go clubbing or to a house party, no longer a rave
