Can someone define for me the subgenres of Trance?

hard/uplifting trance
deep trance
progressive trance

progressive breaks (trance)
chilled-out trance
ambient trance
balearic trance
european trance
dutch/belgian/swiss/german trance
i cant believe its not butter trance

much of the genres are open to interpretation, subject to personal opinion and there is much overlapping between sub-genres.

What you would call epic trance, someone else might be able to reasonably prove as hard/uplifting or something else.


Also you could classify trance based on different aspects. i.e.

Vocal Trance can still be "chilled-out" by all other definitions.

And dont forget "Dream Trance"...:happy2:

It's hard enough to draw fine lines between the current genres, much less all the "subgenres". The only real use they have is to help new listeners more easily find songs to identify with. Otherwise, throw them out the window and just enjoy good EDM for what it is.

Hard to define some, bottom line is if you like it, who cares the subgenre anyway?
