keyboard keyboard?

okay, this is for all you fruity loopers out there...

dont get me wrong, fruity loops is a swell proggy, but i dont feel like buying a keyboard to input midi...

is there a way to use the keyboard AS a keyboard?

like: zxcvbnm, would be th Cmaj scale, with "sd" and "ghj" being the #'s...

i dont have a roblem composing music with a keyboard, but this would make ALOT of sense, seeing as hardware sequencers you buy only have a one-octave keyboard, which is enough for what i want to make "ala: trance-jungle"

i absolutely LOVE the Rmx-1, roland's groove boxes, and the Korg electribes, but the only advantage to them is the real-time control knobs for live preformance (and the samples/synthesizers arent up to par for live preformance anyway) but im not going to do live electronic music, im still stuggling with guitar...

anyway...

i love the versatility of Fruity Loops, and wasnt to use their sequencer and real time effects, cause i like to tweak everything to EXACTLY how i want it to sound, but i cant even beging to tell you how impossible it is to try to compse stuff with those little green tabs on a vertical keyboard-layout-type-crazy-exuse-for-an-insturment-with-a-mouse deal.

if you didnt understand a word of this, just smile and nod.

Ok, each to his own. Most people will prefer "real" music keyboards, because they are laid out to make music. A computer keyboard is originally made to type text... But in the end, it's the result that counts, not the means. To answer your question it should exist, if Fruity managed to implement a "computer keyboard plays notes" feature, it surely must be doable in another environment. I haven't looked for it though, so I'm not aware of any external convertor plugin that can do that for you.

But one thing you have to understand. Dj'ing usually involves playing premade tunes (wether they are your own or other people's tracks, I won't discuss), while producing means making tracks. And it's mainly in that second category that your subject belongs (using Fruity, music hardware like sequencers, synths,...).

A long explanation to basically say : you might get more response if you post this in the Production forum. Not all dj's make music, so there will be a couple of people that will smile and nod...

Nem smiles and nods... ;)

Yes it's possible.
Just go options and select 'Typing keyboard to piano' or Ctrl-T.

ZXCV etc are white keys and ASDF are black keys and then you get another octave with a similar principle with QWER and so on.
