Hi to the future (and current, congrats!) DJ stars of TA... My first time posting here, I hope this post is ok let me know if this sort of thing is off limites though.
I am addicted to a certain song lately, last in (the broadcast) of Tiestos Innercity 2003 set...
ANyone of you fine young DJ's wanna hook a girl up please? Thanks in advance :) I appreciate any help.
It is Benny Bennasi, " Love is Gonna Save us." Its not a remix, but the song sounds different in his set, like he speeded it up a bit...
Sorry forbeing dumb noob on this but is that possible while spinning, to alter sounds by using speed? OK answering my own Q I bet that is a big part of mixing right? Anyway I dont have Turntables...I bet I'd be a trainwreck, but anyway, I am hoping someone with TT's , the Benny Bennasi Vinyl for said song, and a love of Tiesto of course could help meout getting an Mp3 of his "version" of this song. Oh yes youll also need the Tiesto innnercity set to check and see how close it sounds, or if this is really what he did to the song,Who knowsI may be totally wrong but It seems logical anyway...ok but I can get that to you if needed.
PLease Help and feel free to PM me if you learn something I should know
(OK leaving myself wide open there...so let me close that door ie stuff I should know on this topic heh OK? thanks)
Cheers!

| yes speeding up a track is the most basic thing in mixing. I haven't heared the mix yet, but it's probably because he pitched it up a bit that it sounded a bit different. Not sure though might be a Tiesto personal remix. |

there are plugins for winamp (i presume u are using winamp for listening to mp3's) that can do that. That way you can alter the pitch (speed) of the songs just like a turntable...
edit:
1. install this file: file - click me
2. when installed, open winamp, press ctrl+p
3. go to 'DSP/effect' in the plugins tab
4. select 'Arnab's DSPs (dsp_arnabs.dll)'
A window with pitch sliders should pop up -> have fun messing around |

Sounds good, but I am running a Mac using itunes...I think Winamp is only for windows? I will check anyway. I have been researching on the internet for mac Mp3 Mixing tools/software...everything I have found seems to be pro software with hefty price tag I would love to buy but dont have the $$$.
PvD has the same Mac as I do, think he would burn his expensive software for me lol...
Ayway Thanks you for the advice - If not mac friendly I will check these instructions on someone elses machine :) |

BTW yous sig is my favorite lately, very nice and killer tuneage :)
I checked winamp used to do mac for classic but "abandoned" the old program with OS X
itunes sux the big one, most recently annoying is I cant cross fade on a burn, but the playlist to be burned does cross fade, a big WTF
Mebbe I see a win machine in my future if this keeps up
Luke- thanks I wondered bout that since I saw his laptop |

Gee, I remember a time when it was embarrasing to post and ask questions without at least *trying* to figure things out on your own at least a little bit. |

For the mac, 'Megaseg' will do what you're looking for. I used it to learn to match songs by ear but it doesn't have any equalizers on it so for real DJing your best bet is still turntables and a mixer. To pitch up/down songs, Megaseg will do this no problem.
Cheers. |
