Hey, this is my first true attempt at any sort of electronic music. I'd like some feedback, if you'd be so kind :)

(Unfortunately, my website is entirely in flash and I have no way of linking to the mp3 directly... so the link is to my site)

link

>> I'm on Fire (2:35) <<
software: FL Studio 4.1
synths: 3xOsc, WASP (but a very subtle WASP at that)

...and yes, I know it's a bit odd to write in 7/8 time.

Ah! but he has cleverly discuised it by putting the text 'link' on it. ;)

Interesting little piece you have made SMRQ.
Sounds like it's a written more like a rock track though than anything dance related. And for some reason it also reminds me of musicals i.e. like a number out of 'We will rock you' or something.

Musically it works there is no doubt about that but it doesn't make me want to dance for example. Again I think the beat (7/8) is all wrong for that purpose. The intro sounds very Jarre' meets Kim Wild (Kids in America) God I'm giving away my age here he he... :)

I gave some of the other tracks on your site a listen and found that 'Brainwasher & Dryer' was probably your best attempt at electronic music in terms of the dance genre so far.

The thing I notice the most about your compositions is that they are missing the low end frequencies i.e. there is no bass in them. In terms of notes and harmonies there isn't really a problem but the over all compositions sound very thin in their current state and need a lot more detail in them.

Keep it going though mate... will be good to see how you get on as there is evidence of a musical brain at work. :)

Cheers
