Well folks, I finally upgraded from 98 to XP... stop looking at me like that!!
What do I have to say? YUK!!!
well, I suppose it has a few:
GOOD THINGS
-----------
-I was confused as to why the sound was working when I first installed windows. It had already installed my sound card and my video card :)
-I was always going on about how i've got good eyes and a lot of pictures look low quality to me because i could see compression... well... now I know why nobody else knew what I was rambling on about!!! XP seems to make pictures look a load better!!! even in that crappy little 'microsoft picture viewer' images are smooth as!
however there are some:
BAD THINGS
----------
-My PC speaker beeps when I adjust volume. WTF?!
-Recent Documents can't be removed from the start menu. "Muddafufnawushafusha!"
-Those big demented chunky-ass speech bubble notices that appear in the system tray cannot be switched off.
-muthaa wont remember window sizes!
(Including whether they are maximized or not)
-The other day I was talking about how PowerDVD Dominates and changes windows volume levels. In XP its a nightmare!!!
It really really doesnt like my soundblaster live! (supposed to be a good sound card) 99 percent of programs I use in XP change the "Wave" volume to its highest setting but leave the others alone. This is not good people :( its one of the things that i'm desperate to fix.
-In "Find Files or Folders" files wont open when clicked on. (or when pressing enter) They just dont want to open!
keep in mind that I think i've got an early version of XP.
alrighty den
maybe you guys have run into similar problems? |

not sure why microsoft named an os after a pronoun, can't wait until they come out with the 'you' os, so i can say "you suck".
btw the beeping might be just a feature to let you hear the volume you just set. |

First of all, it did not install your sound card and video card. XP has the drivers built in for your old components.
As for your recent documents problem: Goto Start, right click, properties, start menu tab, start menu, click customize..., advanced tab, uncheck Recent Documents checkbox located at bottom of the window.
Hope that helped. ;) |

| Just becasuse the sound and video work doesn't mean . Go and download the lastest sound, video and any other drivers you need first. If you have a VIA chipset download the VIA Hyperion 4 in 1 Drivers too. |

Wthi this you have to manually make it fit to screen it remembers what you put it to so just make it the full size of the screen. Don't maximizie it. With the start menu right click and click properties and you can customize everything. |

seriously guys thanks but I'm not that bad :(
I obviously went to the start menu properties, but no joke, it really DIDNT have anything to remove 'recent documents'. I must just have a mega old version.
P.S
As for the dude that said the beeping might have been to test the new volume level.... PC speakers beep. Thats it.
They cant beep at a different volume. Its just as loud every time.
But dont worry anywayz... Today I got a later version
(one that will probably setup everything properly. Although I will still use CD's) :) :) :) |

| i can remove documents from start. I have Windows XP Pro. Everyone says "2000 all the way" but i dont think so. I rather have ME than 2000. Windows XP hasnt given me any trouble at all, and whats great is it automatically install my drivers for everything, its a fast OS to, at least in my comp. Im happy. |
