Phat lead presets
View this Thread in Original format

Hey fellows!

I was wondering if people feel the need for a thread where presets for leads are being collected from the most phat songs, recent or a somewhat longer time ago..

To clear things up: For example describing how you get the sound of the lead in 'Ferry Corsten - Punk'. How to make it with Reason or another Program..

Well, I hope this is a good subject!
Cheers

Well a few threads pop up now and then giving some advice on how to create a certain sound. The problem is that we all use different synths. I did a tutorial last week for the virus with feedback from only one person, so it kinda defies the point doesn't it.

As for making leads, reading a tutorial for any subtractive synth is semi-translable to another subtractive synth. Things like oscillator shape, detune, unison, filter settings, delay, reverb, all the synths have them, so reading a tute from one synth can still be usefull for yours. You won't get the exact same sound out of it but it is still a useful learning experience

Hey cheg,

I encountered that problem myself too, when i came up with the thread, nevertheless, we can still come up with settings, and maybe i should post a few first.. Since i have no money, currently, to buy me a Nord Lead :( :( :( , i think it's good to collect a few settings..

Kind regards..

Go for it. I don't really have any copy-cat style leads, so feel free to post some of your own.

I've managed to get Reeloop - ing Society spot on, but I think its from using the same synth.

I have presets that're pretty much identical to the lead used in Matt Darey - Gamemaster 2003 (Michael Woods mix) and another for the lead in the Ronski Speed remix of Binary Finary - 1998. Those of you with Atmosphere can PM me if you want them.

Which synth was that then?

Edit: AAAAH.... Here we go.

Reason "Punk" demo file.

Hopefully that should work. :)

That's about half an hour of effort. Notice that it doesn't really sound exactly like the song, but hey, it's a start.

If I really wanted to make it sound exact, there would be multiple Subtractors layered over each other...dozens of FX...so on and so forth...

Enjoy.
