I wouldn't do that. I'd go for proffessional material immediately. When you sell your old non-proffessional stuff, you lose alot of money.

Hey, if you're willing to spend more on decks...nothing beats the TECHs. Doesn't matter which you get. I cannot emphasize this enough, but avoid anything with a straight tone-arm.

If you get a mixer, go with something that has EQ's for each individual channel. Of course, it'd be easy to recommend the top stuff like DJM-600 or X-9 or XONE-62, but avoid Numark mixers. They bleed to freakin' easy. They're not built for abuse.

question for the american dudes... any of you ever heard of this akiyama acura / Synq XTRM-1 / Stanton st150 and if so, why don't you people ever consider it... been wondering for quite some time since the technical specs are better than technics AND they're cheaper (except for the stanton for obvious reasons)

Straight arm technology isn't for me.

i'm not talking about the str8-150 but the st-150

It's not the name that I don't trust, 'cuz STANTON used to be part of VESTAX.

These new hi-torque motors...that's what I don't trust. So far, I haven't had any problems with the TT-X1 motor but I've heard stories and seen first hand what an overheated TT-X1 sounds like. I mean, look at the VESTAX PDX-2000s, they only lasted about two years and the motor would go bad. I want to wait out and see if the 4.7 kgf/cm motor of the ST-150 will stand the test of wear and tear.

Well I can't speak for all of my bretheren, but I've never heard of those models (besides the Stanton model).

Btw...any other recommendations for good turntables for less than the price of technics?:D

Oh well, never heard about the overheatig problems here tbh, and i've read quite some reviews. But then again, nobody wants the ttx's here in belgium/holland since their tonearms are like utter crap apparently. People here are seriously into buying those new st150 clones here, that's why i was wondering :)

i've heard of most of the TTs mentioned but i got some Tech MK2s because they were the same price as Numark TTX1s, they have been around as long as i have been alive (1978ish), and every dj booth that i aspire to inhabit has technics.

i dont have any prejudice against other TTs. i just figured that if i am used to solid decks w/ +-8% and solid pitch control, then i can tackle anything thrown in my path, like say a booth set up with TTX1s.

why rock the boat

+1

I'm going to buy one mk|| 1210 and some mixer. When i have enough money i think i'm gonna buy a djm500 and another mk2. Thx for advice guys ;)

I would recommend buying two new technic decks and then picking up a mixer on ebay if you are on a budget. You can resell the mixer when you have enough money for a better one and you shouldn't loose too much money.

Especially if you are new to mixing this will get you up and practicing as soon as possible on quality decks. As long as you get a mixer that works, then you will be able to practice and improve your deck skills. If you are new then you dont need be worrying too much about equalizer/effects stuff anyway. A basic mixer will keep you focused on your basic mixing skills. For my first mixer i picked up a djm-300 on ebay for $175. I plan to upgrade in about 6 months, and i expect to be able to sell it for the same, since i have seen several others go for that price or higher.
