I am new here, and I realize you guys must get this kind of crap all the time. I sincerely apologize for asking noob questions. And yes, I have spent time searching around before asking this...
That said, here's the thing. I went and downloaded some softsynth, and I already have a MIDI sequencer. Thing is, I got sick of those crappy MIDI sounds after about two minutes.
So what do I need, to be able to sequence the (much nicer) noises I can get out of the softsynth?
thanks a lot

You might have more luck asking this in the producing forum.
But generally, you need to route the midi out of a midi track (dunno which sequencer you're using, but it's pretty much the same on most) to the softsynth. Be sure the synth is listening to the same midi channel as the midi track is sending out.
Then it's just a matter of tweaking the synth parameters to get a decent sound. And if you can't get decent sound out of that after some time, either you're not good at synth programming, or the synth is not good :D |

If you haven't got any hardware I would look at getting a sequencer that supports VST pluggins. Much cheaper.
Fruity Loops for example supports a ton of them.
