i don't have a problem with cells or ppl who own them. what i do have a problem with is its inappropriate use. It pisses me off if i go out with a friend or date and they get into a long ass conversation with someone on a cell or get bunch of calls. thats rude as hell why are you wasting my time while i sit here listing you talk to some else who isn't here. It's like who would be so rude to bring a laptop to a party and involve yourself in an online chat. oh note to wanna bees outhere its a portable phone not a status symbol.

What's the difference in you scenario versus being AT SOMEONE'S HOUSE and them answering their home phone? They're still talking to someone 'who isn't here'. Whether it's a home/cell phone, as long as they politely say they're preoccupied and give a message that they'll return the call later, IT'S ALL GOOD. |

You're right there isn't a difference! Its just as rude to invite someone over then carry on a conversation on a conventional phone. When I'm at home with company I let the answering machine pick up unless i'm expecting an important call. Some ppl use cell phones like a remote control as soon as they're board they channel surf to another conversation. |

I just recently got one but I remember not having one and people would ask me "whats yer cellphone #?" before they even knew I didn't have one and then when I replied "I don't have" they would be like "WTF?why not?"
They're sorta expensive but really handy...also good to have in the event that your car breaks down. |

| I just recently cut my service with sorry ass verizon , I just don't feel like paying cell phone bills anymore anyways.I do believe they are usefull for alot of things but i agree people that abuse them to much are annoying.Like when I go to a mall or something looking for some chicks and the single ones always seem to be talking on the cell phone to some friend of theirs. |

i have a celly, it beeps once quietly and then vibrates. So i don't think its annoying. And if i dont wanna pick it up, i press end and it goes to voice messaging
Don't be pissed off at the technology, learn to use it to your advantage. if you dont like an aspect of it, make it change. |

a cell phone is very handy when used properly
when people go overboard with phones - fancy faceplates, flashing antennas, lights, chips, vibrating antennas, etc. - that's just gay.
for me a cell phone is an equivalent of IM, which (IM) was called the "fast food" of conversations. basically, i use it only when i need to find someone for something important and to exchange a few important things with people. everything else will and should be said in person. that's one of the reasons i don't talk on the regular phone either (but also because online i can have 5 convos at once).
i despise phones in general. if you have a chance to see the person, go have coffee with them or something and talk about things, but don't spend 2 hours on the phone with them. |

| I've had a cell phone for a little over 5 years now, can't see how I could survive without one now. All my friends have cell phones, and mostly, that's the easiest (and sometimes only) way to get in touch with them. |

i've tried and i've tried and i've tried but i just can't see why EVERY ING PERSON ON EARTH has to carry these damn things. i swear to god, i don't think i know anybody who doesn't have one, except for me. i know they can be convienient but most of the time they just ring when you don't want them to and i find them for the most part pretty ing annoying. the more people i see with cell phones, the less i want to get one. Maybe some day I'll be on TV as "the only remaining human being on planet Earth who has never owned a cell phone"...that would be cool. bah.

just wait unti camera phones hit america... and video phones for that matter (when they work). they are already becoming part of every day life over here :)
but yea i see your point, its very rude if somone is talking to you and then they go off and have a 5 min conversation with somone else, especially if they are a loud talker :whip: but i love my phone, and i would die without it sometimes.
i love my
it has VGA graphics ffs! |
