| Do you mean you want to record a mix or something on your PC? If so, you can use something like Traktor, but you'll have to purchase it($200 USD) to write the mix to .WAV. If your talking about something else, then I can't help ya. |

| I think theres a way where you can hook your turntables up to your computer using their output with the middle jack on the back of your computer. Then, you'll probably have to get a proggy or something to record them with. |

Things you will need:
Mixer w/ a Record-out jack in the back
RCA to Line converter cord (one end has Red & white plugs, other end has 1/8th "headphone-looking" plug)
Recording software. I reccomend Cool Edit Pro 2.0, but really your PC's default sound recorder will do the basic job.
Plug the Rca end into the record-out on your mixer. The reason you want one with a record-out is b/c changes in the master volume wont affect the recording level, prevents distortion. Plug the other end into the Line-In jack on your soundcard on the back of your PC.
(assuming youre using Windows)
double-click the little speaker icon in your system tray to open up your sounds control panel. Make sure the little check box above Line-In has a check in it, and adjust the levels appropriately (two notches above the bottom is usually enough.) Then goto File>Settings, and select Recording. Un-check everything in the bottom window EXCEPT Line-In, then hit ok. The only thing showing should be your Line-In recording Level. Adjust this accordingly (once again, 2 notches should do it.)
Now go open up a new file in your sound recording program. In Cool Edit, you can go in the Options and select "Monitor Recording Level." This will open up a graphic display of your recording level at the bottom of your screen (two bars going from green to red). Start playing a record with your preferred settings on your mixer and see what the Recording Level Monitor says. If it is in the Red or hitting Red constantly, your recording levels are too high. Go back to your desktop and adjust the recording level bar.
As long as your recording level doesnt hit Red too often, it will be fine. If it hits red on really strong beats and stuff, dont worry too much. |
