Argh, the telecom found out I don't have an internet service provider!

It's weird. We installed DSL here a couple of years ago. A year ago my father decided to cancel his subscription for some reason I can't remember, but internet was still working, so we didn't mind.
Now we're receiving phone calls from the telecom saying that our login is not being found in the ISP's database, so we can experience "a few problems in the future".
All I can say is one thing: oops :toothless
What is the server for, anyway? How did I manage to use internet without it for so long? Why did it take so long for them to notice? And how did they do that? Not complaining, just curious :p
If they suddenly cancel my connection, please tell m.... |

Heh, something similar happened to us.
We ordered a 512/256 line, but they installed a 1024/512 line by mistake.
However, it took them almost 2 years to notice. We kept paying for 512 line although we had twice the speed. |

hehe, the concept of "free" in this case is weird. I'm not paying an isp but I'm paying for the modem... well, it's still cheaper anyway :)
Yeah, my situation is quite similar to yours, Mr. Mystery. The funniest thing though, is that they called us in December offering a service that would double the speed of my internet conncetion (I didn't take it because I thought I would be pushing my luck too far). I wonder what they'll do. Will they send a technician to my house (who will take the modem back) or can they suspend my phone service?
I still don't understand what I need the isp for and what the telecom can do about it if they're not my isp (and I'm still paying them anyway). :conf: |
