| Hi finally I bought a second hand 1210mk2. The stylus light was not working. I searched for some DIY sites and changed the light. As some of you might guess I couldn't find 20DCV so I changed with 12DCV. After 1 or 2 hours later the light turned of. ( I guess it couldn't handle ) I made a big mistake and I insert a screwdriver from stylus window ( what a jackass, what I was thinking? ) then fire cames out. I turn on the tt. The power and pitch light was OK. But when I pressed the play the lights began to flash and the platter began to move forward and backward like a broken car. And also electric voice comes from inside. Is anything happens like that? And what might be happen? Please don't write " send it to the Technics service " 'cos there is none of them for turntable here. I might send it to a regular repair shop but don't have money nowadays. Does it cost much to me? |

I would really advise against using the improper voltage. I imagine what you heard came from the motors. The lights would not stay on because of improper voltage, and i doubt the motor will operate correctly either. I'm not sure about running them off dc either. Shouldnt there be an AC chord on the unit?
I suggest you get a user manual and set up everything correctly first. |
