problem with mids/singing in certain tracks

Hey guys,
When I play certain records, especially Southern Sun (G&D remix),
the singing makes my speakers sound like they're about to crack...
I have to turn the mids practially all the way down in order
for it to be bearable...
Can I fix this, or are the records just mastered poorly? |

There are a number of possibilities here:
1) Your needle is overly dusty
1.5) Bad needle
2) Your gains are way out of bounds on your mixer
3) Worn in record sounds like crap esp with hi hat hits and vocals (ie the s's sound like 'sthp''s (sound that phonetically))
4)Poorly powered speakers
5)Wiring is incorrect |

No man those are all fine...
Other record with vocals sound ok, but
a couple, especially southern sun, sound like
i think it's just the record |
