What is a warped record - It'll be mis-shapen and it won't sit on the platter evenly. It's those records that when you spin them back they keep going and going and going........ and when you touch them when their spinning they'll come to a standstill and take about ten second to get back up to full speed

i don't know how it affect the sound of the record but it make them very difficult to use when mixing because you can't control the record as easily

i have a few records that are warped and i still spin them. it is alot harder to controll them, but they still sound ok.

is there anything you can do to "unwarp" a record?

a guy said something about putting the warped record in the oven and cooking it at a controlled temp for a certain amount of time, but at the same time said it was dangerous because the heat could melt the vinyl and possibly ruin your oven
chesco
your best to leave warped records the way they are. Trying to unwarp them can stretch the groove and affect the sound quality. Or so i'm told.:D

dam, i have lots of warped records then :(

Are mis-shapen records bad for the stylus? I have a few records which make the tone-arm go up and down or left and right, but the sound is fine.
chesco
In my experience they are no worse for your stylus than any normal records.
