ok, we all see it, 'cheese this' 'cheese that', sammy this, sammy that, whatever... first off, dont all of us trance lovers despise when an ignorant minded face says 'all techno sounds the same' while themselves listening to mtv trl top 10 hits... what the ignorant people like is besides the point here though. what does it take for a song to be classified as cheese? is it the fact that a song or dj recieves so much hype and aknowledgment for something they dont deserve in YOUR OWN PERSONAL opinion? or the fact that there are better songs out there that are unknown? doesnt this all seem a bit too cynical? ok, a lot of people like dj sammy or robert miles or whoever it may be is there 'cheese' of choice. who cares? does that give us or anyone the right to call it cheese and degrade those people for their choice in music? i know you are probably thinking i like this 'cheese' you all speak of. i dont hate it, like i see a lot of people do here. my gf does seem to like the apitamy of what everyone here calls 'cheese' though, go figure.
i guess all this rambling is due to the hyporcritic nature ive seen on many people. would you want someone calling one of your favorite tunes 'repetetive with no words'. i get tired of hearing that, as im sure you all do. so dont add to the fire is what im getting at. just ignore someones taste in 'cheese' or country, rock, rap, whatever, if they are liking it for another reason besides there own taste in music (ie because everyone else likes it) or whatever then they are the ones being robbed of listening and liking music that THEY will PERSONALLY truly enjoy.
so what do you all classify as 'cheese' and whats your reasoning?
is 'cheese' interchangable between 'vocal club trance'. isnt that basically what it is that you all condem to the 'cheese' status? |

There's a huge thread by xTrancegurlx about this.

Sorry if it sounds harsh, but we really don't need so many threads about the very same question :) |

cheese = tunes made for the commercial market (imo)
overplayed tunes are not cheese imo they´re just overplayed :) |

i used the 'search' button and got no where. i searched for 'cheese' and got 1000's upon 1000's of posts which im not going to sort through. and then i searched for 'cheese description' and got nothing.
only 2 people gave a definition of what makes something cheese that was mndeg for use of the 'cheese synth' and t2199. can someone else give a better description of what makes a song 'cheese' and not just labeling certain songs/producers to it but why those songs/producers are labeled that way. |

search with settings title and cheese, there are tons of posts on the subject
Its cheesy if you can play it to an audience of 100 and 95 of them will like the song in 2 minutes |

good job you discovered the underlie hypocrisy of the people who call music ‘cheese’
my definition of ‘cheese’
cheese: ‘I am too ing lazy and stupid to use my god damn head and try to describe something that I don’t like for a particular reason’
ie:
“that song is cheese”
or
“that song is I am too ing lazy and stupid to use my god damn head and try to describe something that I don’t like for a particular reason” |
