BK=Jungle!

I live in the second biggest city in Greece; Thessaloniki. A city (and country) that as it seems is clueless of Dance music. The people that control the industry (record stores, clubs, radio stations...) are doing whatever they want, they don't give any new blood any chances and never recognize any style other than progressive. On the 24/1 BK (One of the most talented UK hardhouse producers and DJ's) played in our biggest club, Decadence. On their posters they wrote BK - JUNGLE. So in case nobody new who BK was at least they would give them a clue about what he plays!! Well I have lived in the UK for 4 years so I knew! But when I saw the posters I was so suprised that I said to myself 'no...it just can be BK. Theres is no way he would come to Greece, and Jungle?? It must be another guy maybe a Greek guy or something.' Believe me when I say this; I don't think that anyone other than people that went to England for studies knows what hardhouse is. Not once have I heard a hardhouse tune on the radio or in a club or anywhere in Greece. In the end I even doubt the people that own the club and booked him have ever heard of hardhouse ever!! I mean for F&^CK's sake JUNGLE??? I was about to spend my night somewhere else but at the last minute (to my enormous surprise) I was told that it really was him. Well I went there really excited but very sceptical about how people would react to this "NEW" sound. Well BK was great he started of with some hard - House tunes and then he went to some of his own UK hardhouse tracks (like revolution) and he din't go back from there on. The crowd was exactly as anticipated they were OK at first when the BPM's where at lower rates but after that they didn't know what hit them. Me, my mates and about 20 more people were the only ones dancing in a almost full 2000(?) capacity venue. BK was almost rushed out of stage (well not really but I'm sure he was supposed to play until the end). Some of the people were clapping and cheering but the biggest share was calling names at the poor guy.:mad: The resident DJs took over again (they played before BK as well) starting with "Anarcrusan - In My Mind" and of course the roof blew up and everyone was happy again!
I don't have anything against progressive house music, some of the tunes I really love. I just don't think that it's the best music to dance to. It never gets that peak. That pure euphoric moment. I really love "In My Mind" as well but open your F%^CKIN' minds god damnit. If you don't know who is playing then go somewhere else. There are "some" choices.
What ignorance!!
I feel the need to apologize in public to BK for all my fellow country-men and a big F%^CK YOU to all those 'pretend clubbers-know-all-party-people'. Sorry BK I told you, they don't know what IT is.
What do you expect from a country that must be the biggest sponsor of Digweed, Sasha, Holden and every other prog. DJ.
There I said it. Phew! I feel better already.
On 7/2 the same club hosts Nu-NRG!! Whoaaaa!!! I love these guys but I really feel it's gonna be the same thing all over again. Well whatever I love my music and I will be dancing there alone if I have to. Like I give a . |

I got nothing against junle either mate. I love it. What Can I say I just love good music there is good music everywhere, in every genre.
In fact that was my thinking it would either be the BK I know or a BK that plays jungle so it would be worth going.
And it would be damn funny if he did play jungle!! |

Know what I find hilarious?
The people were prepared for jungle and it seems they thought hard house was too fast :p |

| Yeah it just sounds like typical greek thinking, even up here in Toronto some Greek people are like that towards the scene. Meh... |

yeah i dont think the problem was in the audience, moreso i think it was the fault of the promoters. They listed BK as Jungle and all the jungle-heads came out expecting some reprazentation and instead got quality hardhouse
MAke sure Nu-NRG isnt listed as PROG or JUNGLE coz if so say something to the club or promoters!!!!! |
