initial thoughts: WOW!! Dirty Pretty Things got nominated for best screenplay!! now THAT's cool, considering that I was the only person watching that movie in the theatre :D
-who the is Keisha Castle-Hughes???
-well at VERY least 21 Grams gets recognition by the acedemy...hollywood foreign press snubbed them big time...everyone: wish my favorite actor (and, according to some, alter ego :D) Benicio del Toro...
-Whodathunkit?? Nicholson gets snubbed by JOHNNY DEPP, of all people...
-Looks like Disney finally pulled through with getting multiple nominations for their animated magmun opus. Finding Nemo BETTER win something...
...ok im done for now... |

GOOOD observation...where IS big fish??
on the other hand, i have to disagree about Kill Bill...there was hardly...HARDLY...any plot development in the movie...Tarantino fills the movie up with flashbacks, uninformed cliffhangers, eye candy-type fight scenes, and arrogant ode's to himself |

Gotta wait for part 2:)
I saw the trailer.... it's a big wtf. Tarantino allways does like that. But I LOVED kill bill.
Butterfly Effect is good, i mainly like it because it's not like alot of these movies that are scared to give you a ed up ending. |

I'm realllly glad to see City of God getting nominated...it was an incredible movie. I think it only played at Angelika...
I must say this is the first year that i am actually satisfied with the nominations. I still haven't seen Seabiscuit or Master and Commander, do u guys recommend those?
Also....Lost in Translation and Mystic River deserve every inch of those nominations. |

i like the way you talk...i havent seen City of God, Whale Rider, or House of Sand & Fog yet, but im gonna see them now...
seabisuit is definitely worth renting...i mean yeah, it's a good story and fun for the whole family, but one of the best movies of the year?? better than Cold Mountain?? better than Big Fish?? even better than In America?? im not sure about that..
The nomiations are very different this year because the ones that were supposed to be on that list didn't make it (what did I tell you guys about Last Samurai??). My best friend, who's as much of a movie nut as I am but is also the biggest conspiracy theorist you'll ever meet, says that this is the year that the acedemy proves everyone wrong and doesn't pick the most mainstream movies to show how cool they actually are. I tend to think he's a psycho, but it definitely shows that the nomination choices are very different than what people predicted.
My bold prediction: Kingsley will snub Sean Penn and he'll win best actor!! :haha: :stongue:  |
