Quite frankly, I refuse to feel bitter or sad about being single. A long time ago, I would get depressed if I was single around V-day...not anymore! In my opinion, it's better being alone than being in a relationship for the wrong reasons. How many people have I known that are involved or married, and feel miserable? Too many! Some people are so afraid of being alone, that they will settle for the next person that comes along.
I was in relationship for two years, in which eventually I started feeling trapped. There was nothing wrong with my then-girlfriend, but I just couldn't handle the commitment aspect of the relationship toward the end. I have been single since spring 2001, and I feel it's been better for me. I still don't feel ready for anything serious. My dating life could still be better, but at least I've taken time to address fears and insecurities from the past.
Feeling lonely? Don't waste time on pity parties! Just go out there and take a chance!

I must have done something really bad in a past life to be so lonely. |
I hear ya. Gee, all of you guys bring up good points. I guess there are advantages and disadvantages to both. This is a little off topic, but what do you guys think about a person that would, say, hire a prostitute or a stripper for that day? I mean, love and sex are totally different things (most of the time) but if one feels lonely... I woudn't hire one cause I am not into that type of thing. I just thought about it because someone said that they spent alot of money on a their gf. And I have been having inward debates about the cost of resources in having a gf versus spending money on strippers and/or prostitutes. I am aware that the latter cannot replace or compensate for actual love, but some people might say "screw it" and persue this course of action.
As for what I won't do that day? Hmm, well, I wont lacrimate or engage in Onanism( sorry, i just had to use those words so that I can make them a part of my regular vocab). |
