I'm looking to buy a workstation as my first official synth. The two im looking at currently are the Korg Triton Classic and Roland Fantom S. They both are under $2000 and around a price point im comfortable with. Between the two which is better suited for dance music production? Or is there something else I should consider? How are the dance expansion boards for each? Both look feature rich, but im new to the synth/workstation world, so im kinda lost.
I'm just looking for an all-in-one setup to get me started and in time maybe I'll start adding other hardware/software. What do you guys think is best for my route? |

Korg is being used by some of the most popular dance formations in Belgium (a chiq singing, and a dude playing synths that is). At least they stand on stage with a Korg, could be promotional use, and not at all used in the studio. I personally never used any of the ones you mentioned. But I'd thought I'd share this info with you, might be some help.
Milk Inc. used a korg on the TMF awards I think, for their last hit. |

I'd shy away from workstation synths and invest your money in other areas. I'd at least start off with a VA of some sort. What are you recording with? Do you have decent converters? Do you have a decent monitoring system? |

I'd say read some reviews.. yamaha's motif looks nice too (+ you can expand them with other synth cards) |
