They have the "go work your ass off" first and then come to us attitude towards newbies.
I personally try to be grounded about my work, when my friends say "he makes trance" I quickly tell them "don't say that, if they ask me to show my work how do I prove you right" lol I'm hoping I can keep getting better (I can listen to the difference between my first tracks and now) but I still consider myself a newbie.. |
then you are destined for greatness! if you maintain seriousness and endure all the that people can throw at you... in addition to tons of other stuff, but your well on your way, congrats on having the right attitude!

Well like I said, if I really had a choice, I'd become a mastering engineer. But a "normal" sound engineer is good also, i'm not difficult.
There are a lot of options when you are sound engineer you know, it's not only about mixing other people's tunes. Recording is a big part of the process also, and it doesn't limit itself to the music industry only. Movies are a big sound business also.
I know electronic music producers are usually making and mixing their own stuff (and if they get lucky enough to make it big, the mastering is probably done by a mastering engineer), but I'm sorry to say, as much as I love electronic music, it's not the only thing that gets me going. Most "real" bands don't mix for themselves. And mixing done by a third party isn't really worse, as you get fresh ears that will have an unbiased look on the material. Personally one of the best experiences I have had was recording and mixing a symphonic orchestra, just so you see.
So yes, I have absolutely no problem in doing jobs for other people.
And Bozor, nice to see support like that  , the extra cash is the least of my interest. I'm doing sound because I love it. It's my life. The problem is I have just so many things to do (which I love) that I can't decide what comes first. For now producing doesn't get my full attention, but who says it will stay that way... |

alrighty, my bad, i didnt understand it in that way, but the gerneral patter with most people is, if your not doing something now, your never going to start.

I know one guy who just never creates music on his own (always with some friend who knows what he's doing) and is telling me that he is going to buy all the to create professional music and make money with selling his great productions... dream on, dude.
I don't actually know people around who produce music as "seriously" as I do. I don't brag about my music, but I want as many people as possible to listen at it, and give comments. Most of my friends think it sounds good but don't have pro ears and don't give any comments I can use.
That's why I joined this forum. And here I find that I have so many things yet to learn, it's so cool! :D A good friend of mine who is into DJ-ing too says there's so much crap in record stores, and that my music beats it and so do many productions here! But the crap is signed, and most of you, and me included, are not. Not that we care, we just love to create music and learn about it. Of course, someday I hope to spin vinyl with my own tracks on it, and that's not even for the money, just a peace of vinyl would be so cool :D
One other point. Smoothing around and having connections can really boost your chances, just to know people in the industry can bring you into some studio... or whatever, you never know. |

Well, actually, i think his friend GOT signed, but then alone, off course (not that he is that talented..). I think my friend sees it as if it's so easy to accomplish.
I asked him if he could send him my stuff. No respons yet, who knows what collaboration is to come.. :stongue:

only my uncle knows, well i think he does, he often mails me stuff about cubase/reason workshops, midi related stuff etc, i don't know how and why he ends up at such websites, guess he doesn't has anything better to do :D
but anyway, answer to your question. no, i don't :D
