Is trance becoming too over commercialised or to underground? It seems to be from a lot of different peoples posts that trance isn't being heard enough, in england where i come from every flyer in the country is advertising some form of house...prog house, hard house, tough house, funky house, just any type of house! even all these crap annoying genres of music like nu-breaks etc.. are getting more play than trance it seems. Trance in this country is supposed to be equal to hard house in popularity in this counrty and nothing is higher than trance or hard house, but theres no eveidence of this. However at the same time more trance is getting into our charts than any other type of dance, except maybye house, just in the last few weeks we've had cosmic gate-firewire, ian van dahl-castles in the sky, da hool-meet her at the love parade (2001 remixes) and there are many more to come over this summer including barthezz-on the move which is predicted to get into the the top ten nxt week. so could someone please tell me whats going on and their opinions on this thanx!

Music such as trance, house, hip hop becomes commercial quick because alot of it is so easy to listen to. What I mean by this is that, for example, "Techno" is more of an acquired taste. I don't think to many people just start liking techno all of a sudden. It takes more time. But with the three genres mentioned earlier all you need to do is throw in some vocals about love (trance), missing someone (house), or anything outrageous (hip hop) and then you've got an audience. Bottom line is that this argument will never end until people realize that all forms of music have a commercial side and an underground side. Basically all that junk up there /\/\/\ means that trance is not too commercialised.

I wonder why you needed to create 2 threads on essentially the same topic.

I love techno :)
But what you said it true, not many people can actually just start likeing techno.
Since i started listening to electronica and then eventually trance and then techno, Techno was easy and fun to listen to.
I guess it depends on how the individual evolves through music :)

I can say that some of the trance its commercialized, but at least here, its very hard for trance tune to compete with the Hip Hop and all those top 40's .. so I would say that in some places it would, some wouldnt.
