| When producers out there make tracks, do they record their melody with the beat tempo or do they record the melody and then change the tempo to match with the bpm. Why I am asking is because when ever I listen to songs the melody goes perfect with the beat. I just don't know if they sit down and play the melody while its recording or if they only record some of the melody at any kind of speed and then loop it and match the tempo with the bpm. |

Im not certain but I would think most producers create the melody at the desired tempo.. I mean it would be much easier that way..
If u make the melody at 140 or 145.. and then adjust it down to 130, the delay and the overall feel will not be the same.. so make the melody at the desired tempo first. this is the way i make my melodies. |

I make the melody,
then I look what bpm fits
I think that's the most musical way |

| I always make the melody on my piano, then insert it with a synth/midi. Usually about 10BPM too slow as the end result. Depends on how you make a song really. If you start with the kicks, and build on that, or if you start with a melody and a general idea etc... |

| You can slow it down and play the melody at a tempo that is comfortable to you. Since everything is quantized, it doesn't really matter. Sometimes playing a melody at one tempo and speeding it up can yield some kind of cool effects. |

the most melodies i use, can't be played at real-time ;)
so i play it slower and speed it up. and then i usually tweak it in the sequencer. |

| I don't make my main melody with any particular tempo in mind, I just see if I can come up with something that is sound melodically and then see if I can bring those ideas into a trance tune at whatever BPMs. |

Mate, the melodies are done in midi, not in audio, so they match perfectly with the tempo because they record the notes and then move them into the right position (quantising). That way, they all fall in time. Midi is not fixed to any tempo so you can change it to whatever you want.
Not sure if that answers you question. |

| I just compose everything at 140 bpm. And if the sequencing process has been completed, then I will find the bpm that will fit the mix in the best possible way. |

Same, mostly since 140 is the default....
To write them, i usually just play around in the piano roll using mouse - no keyboard except when i get brilliant ideas while practicing the piano. |

| me too...except i have no keyboard. I use only software...but i do have a piano, and i mess around on that sometimes. and sometimes with that i get an idea, but i have to completely analyze it, and then transfer it to the piano roll...but i like it that way, its easier to organize the rhythm. |
