Let's put it this way, this year I'm unusually bitter (stretch for me eh?) cuz the woman I planned to hook up with for valentine's day is dating some yuppie rich ass scumbag.....grrrrrrr.
As my dad always said (one of the few decent pieces of advice he ever gave, apart from his tirades and yelling) was that why do you need to show the woman you love that on ONE DAY on the year that you love her. To him, it should be 365.24.7, but I imagine this was his excuse for forgetting valentine's day, a few yrs back. I just viewed valentine's day as another commercial windfall for companies smart enough to cash in on it, besides that why spend one day out of the year telling the one you love, how much you love them?

so i have 2 causes for being disgusted witht the lovey dovey stuff on Vday..

im takin my fiancee (aah scary word hehe) to the posh italian restaurant in town.
i agree with tta though, valentines day is daft.. but its a good excuse to go out and have fun, unless of course you are single. up until 4 years ago i hated valentines day too :p |

Unfortunately the girl who I will be spending valentines day with cannot come :( So for me valentines day will be on the 15th instead :) Havn't decided what to do yet though :o |

I never really celebrate Valentine's Day. If you love someone, you shouldn't need a special day to prove it when everyone in the world is doing it as well. It's more special if it's not a nice day simply because it's a nice day, but because it has to be due to social standards.
Last year, my boyfriend (well ex now) had surgery on the actual Valentine's Day, which was fine by me. I took care of him all day and that was our "special" weekend.
As a surprise though, he told me to get all dressed up the next weekend and ended up taking me to my favourite restaurant! I was so surprised/excited. It was a truly nice dinner because it was unexpected and it wasn't on a national holiday. He ended up telling me that night just how much he loved me. :clown: Good memories.
This year... *shrugs* We shall see ;) |

Well in most cases, couples get too caught up in the daily grind of life and it’s hard to find time (or an excuse) to just put everything aside and dedicate a day to themselves and love...especially when you have kids and a career. So that’s the whole meaning of V-Day people. Of course you should show love every day of the year.
oh yea, and i have a really good idea for the guys in here who want to do something really different and special for their gf. i'm not sure what the exact website is (do a search on google), but you can actually purchase a star in the sky and name it after someone. you get this framed certificate in the mail and a map of where your star is located in space:) it's really cool and it's only like $40 or something like that. |
