Hey Tranceaddicts,
I just got Acid Pro 4.0 and was wondering if any of the fellow TA's used and would be able to give me some pointers or techniques that would help me learn to produce some sick killer tracks. I messed a round with 2.0 a while back so i know the basics, but if anyone could help me out, I'd be very greatful. :) |

| You can't do a killer track in Acid alone since it's just a sample looping tool. |

| What would you recommend I do or get? Or maybe you know a website that goes into detail about producing music. |

I beg to differ. I recommend ACID fully if you are going to do techno/trance. It's primary purpose is to loop samples but I use "one shot" on everything and secquence my percussion, melody, and harmony all in ACID. I do more Light Classical now so I've moved on to Sonar. But when I did trance ACID was great. Check out my website for a couple of good songs I did with ACID, my keyboard, and some one-shot percussion samples.

As for some tips using the program:
1. Use the included FX, I still use some of them with Sonar.
2. Use the beat slicer - it makes for really fun percussion.
3. Use some good VSTi's with it such as Superwave P8 and Triangle II (both free)
4. Learn music theory and production techniques, it really isn't the program you use but how good your composing/producing technique is.
www.futureproducers.com is good for music theory and just about all the producing tricks I know I've learned here (EQing especially)
That's all I can think of now.. if you can think of a question let me know. |

| BIG TIP: Don't think you can master this in a week, month, or even a year. I've been producing for four and a half years (many people in here have been doing it longer then me) and there are still things that we don't know/understand yet. |

| I mainly use Acid as a utility for chopping, etc. but I also use it for some remixing. When I was a total n00b I mixed Sandstorm with Strongbad Techno. :haha: |
