I'm not too surprised about Holland at all...When i was there a month ago I realized that most of the drugs are consumed by tourists who think they are going to some drug paradise...the locals are totally easy going and I found most of them at Innercity to be totally sober...it's the tourists on the other hand that go all out :). Besides Holland is a pretty small country... :) |
Quite true. The thing about Holland is that it can be viewed as an experiment of what happens when EVERYTHING is legalized. The tourists go there for that one reason, while the locals tend to partake in the reverse. |

I don't believe a thing this survey says. When I lived in England, I had a lot of Aussie friends and they used to tell me that the pills in Australia are the best they have done compared to any other place in the world... and they should be since they spend an average of 40-45 aussie dollars on each one. Contrast that with England where the average price for a pill is about 3 pounds (7 canadian dollars). I'll let you do the math and tell me if it adds up.
Furthermore, in London alone, its estimated that there are 1 000 000 pills taken each weekend! Its simply ridiculous.
I would be interested to see how they came up with these numbers.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust this survey either.. It would be interesting to know how they collected the data. |

It's true, the UK has cheap pills, especially compared to Australia. The survey question was apparently something like "have you ever tried extacy?"...so this survey could tell how many people (as a percentage of the population) have tried pills, as opposed to how many the average person canes on the weekend (for those that do it regularily).
I'm basing this purely on experience, but I find that when Europeans, British, Irish, Australians party...they really party. I mean, they go all out. We party here too, but you must admit, we're much more uptight, reserved, conservative, or whatever you want to call it...(as a generalization of course ;) ). |

It could have to do with a more relaxed social acceptance to drugs in general (by Europeans and Aussie's). And I agree, the way the people are into the scene in North America is like childs play compared to England and Australia.

Childs play for sure, not to say I'm this big crazy partier though. I couldn't believe how extreme some people party in Europe and UK. When I took the bus to and fro from Godskitchen, people were already ed of their tit before getting there. Popping pills and smoking spliffs on the bus, the bus driver didn't even care. Some people were too messed up to even party when they got there and just crashed in the corner of the Hard House tent and didn't move most of the night (that's not cool). On the bus ride home a girl had to be taken off the bus and put on an ambulance from doing too much Ketamine. To be honest, the pervasiveness of the drugs spoiled some aspects of the party..especially when a whole field, the size of a football field is one massive sketchpad (and I thought the Asian cuddle puddles at the Guv. were bad).
Another thing I noticed was how people didn't seem to care about the cost either. Spending the equivalent of 200 bucks on a night out would not be as rare as it is here I bet. Although, some of the parties over there are worth it. They think nothing of bussing it across the country to see their favorite dj, or hit up their favorite festival. |

| I remember reading an article regarrding clubbing and drugs in the UK where someone passed out in a lineup after having done 17 hits of E ! I'm glad that we don't have similiar things happening here that often. Too much consumption just draws negative attention to the scene. Look at what happened in new york with Twilo after a kid died of GHB a few years back ( club was closed down ). Moderation as always is the key, that being said, hopefully Canada won't jump any higher on that infamous list. |

Camden Palace in London is still the craziest place I have ever been to regarding substance abuse. Once you get past security at the door the place becomes an absolute free-for-all. Insane amounts of drugs being taken by everyone. I have friends that have seen people shooting up on the stairs as you walk up to the bleachers section... just crazy.
Regarding people getting too messed up to party, I have noticed that these people tend to generally be British. Not to say all, but I venture to guess most. Some of them get so messed up that its just insane... I can't fathom how someone could allow that level of debauchery on their body.
Most of the Aussie's I met in England love to party hard, but they also know where to draw the line.

FYI,
Did you know the average clubber in the U.K. drops an average of 12 pills per party.
At 2 pounds a pill I can understand. |

The best pill I ever did was in Japan and it cost me 70 CAD
I split it with a friend and it was a nice clean rush!
that was 3-4 years ago - hopefully the quality has stayed the same. thats why I'm not surprised about Australlia a good part of the world for that stuff. maybe they take it very seriously there, so they are willing to pay more.
I'm willing to pay more for quality. but lots of people here will do a 10 dollar pill and hope for the best. I'd have to say that generally Toronot gets pretty good pills, but you have to judge where you get it from and be patient when buying. |

can you back that statement up?
I was in Ibiza and the pills were dirt cheap. Many British were droping 3-4 maybe 5 pills. So obviously they are weak pills, but 12 is a bit much for even the craziest person. So I would have to say that 12 being average is too high to believe. |
