I'm taking the advice I was given and I'm going to buy a mixer(second hand one because of small budget) so I can use it with Traktor and slowly increase my beat matching skills and stuff. Is this a good mixer? I really need an opinion fast, as I want to start DJing with real stuff ASAP.

Looks like a real POS. But should be really cheap. A lot of people like the Beringer VMX-300 but that is like 100 bucks. If you really need something cheap then go for it I guess, but the general words of wisdom seem to be buy better stuff at first.

Ok, I'll take your advice. What would be a good mixer to buy?

A good one to start off is either the VMX300 or the DJX700. Both by Behringer. They have great customer support and I haven't had a problem with my DJX700 yet, I've had it for 4 months and use it every single day. They're both in the 150-200 dollar price range, pretty cheap for a decent mixer.

Ok. I've had my eye on Behringer because of good feedback and low prices. I'll look for the VMX at DJ Mart.

hey, check out a numark dxm-06. its by numark, i've heard a lot of bad reviews and a lot of good reviews of the behringer djx-700 but the dxm-06 doesnt' ahve a lot. i own one and been using it with no problems. doesn't heat up at all.

the whole heating up thing is not totally true, i think it depends on each unit. i use mine about 2-3 hrs a day (sometimes longer), and i've had it for 6 months, i've never had any such problem. most people complain about the onboard effects and how they aren't good which is true. but hey, you shouldn't really be buying a mixer just for its effects. other than the crappy effects, this mixer is a great buy, go for it.
