right now, i like sticking to my vinyl, but if i ever do buy a CDJ, i would have to buy these.
stupid question: does the platter spin as the CD plays to simulate a regular TT? |

Yes, the platter does spin. There is a 15 to 20 second video of a guy demoing it floating around on the net somewhere. Just google search for it.
Cheers. |

| i cant see technics taking over from pioneer in the cd turntable race - pioneer have established themselves as market leader - too late for technics to do it two years after evryone else |

| Yeah one of the other associates down at Guitar Center I work with got to try one out on a demo, and said it is a piece of don't let the Technics name fool you, this is a total overpriced piece of . Apparaently Technics thought it would be a good idea to use the 1200's motor to drive this thing; bad idea cause from his experience and I trust his opinion immensly, he tells me it has slow start up and load times and there's too much delay between the movement of the vinyl and the scrtach effect it's supposed to make! From what I gather it would be better to check out the Numark CDX1, the torque is far greater and he tells me it outperforms the technics model in every way. But from what I hear both are a bit awkward to play on cause of the lack of a tonearm, and he said the lights on both kinda cause a distraction during use! so until I get my hands on one I'm gonna avoid the Technics model like the plague! cause it sounds like the motor is a big problem, and Technics may need to go back to the drawing board on this one! |

| No offense Dj_Hypnotiq, but I really don't think the amount of torque that either one has really means anything. Besides, I think it's well proven that torque on paper means nothing. Also, not sure how much the motor really matters, all it does is make the record spin, which really isn't a main point on CD players. Even if it's not instant start (which I highly doubt they wouldn't do), from your point of view it would start up just as quickly as a 1200, right ? That seems fine to me... |

Funny how it doesn't say what the pitch increments are. I believe that pitch increments are one of the more important features of a CD deck. Sure it's sexy, but it does everything the CDJ1000 does, not much else, it just looks different (sexier yes). But if it's not broken why fix it, and the CDJ1000s seem to have no problems whatsoever, it's gonna be hard for Technics to improve on that to take the CD Turntable crown.
We'll see :) |

Yeah, I agree with a lot of you guys. I'm not making any decisions unitl these get released and see what others on this board think of them before I shell out the bucks for them. I'm also going to try them all out myself at my local music store once they come in. Right now I think the pioneers would be best but I can't count out the technics just from the name. Hopefully there's more to them than just the looks.
Cheers. |
