My last visits to France lately in 2003, 02 and 01 I am astounished by the lake of morals of the people. The amount of anti religion in France is amazing. Just this last year I saw 2 peoples having intercours in a alley in broad veiw and daylight of passers by. Also in Parisian city parks homosexuals regulalry have sex in the day in public veiw.
I was wondering if people think this is due to lack of religion, or are the Franch a more advanced peoples or anything because I don't know what will change these peoples.
And in other western euro countries sex is displayed regularly on tv and in sweden peoples are having intercourse wit animals. |

More news from France, somewhat disturbing:

PARIS, 31 January 2004 (AP) — The Paris suburb of Evry, which has one of France’s largest Muslim populations, has decided to install video screens to enable the local faithful to watch some 3,300 sheep being slaughtered for Eid this year.
The televised ritual slaughter which will take place in a large mobile abattoir is the idea of a local meat wholesaler.
“If the idea succeeds this year then it’s likely to become a permanent fixture of Eids in future,” a local municipal spokesman said.
Meanwhile, at Le Mans, west of Paris, the local authorities have decided to build a “hard” structure in which the sheep belonging to local Muslims can be killed.
“If this works out,” says an official for the prefecture which is overseeing the development, “then it’s an idea that will probably be tried elsewhere in France.”
The new approach to the slaughter of the Eid sheep comes after years of difficulties for French Muslims who, having bought a sheep for Eid, thought it was their right to see them killed in a local slaughterhouse.
That, however, contravened strict governmental regulations on security and hygiene. Additionally, there were relatively few slaughterhouses available for the killing of the sheep according to Halal practice.
However, with the number of sheep to be killed this year rising to 110,000, the government decided it was time to introduce new methods by which they might be slaughtered under government sanitary regulations but also religiously-authorized conditions.
The authorities have notified Muslim representatives, in particular the new official French Council for the Muslim Faith, of the changes. But they will wait to see the response before planning any future Eid-related projects.

You know, that is not a very widely accepted behaviour in Sweden. Just because you heard on the news that some swedish guy ed a goat or something like that it doesn't mean very many swedes do that sort of thing.
But why the hell do you have that french flag as your avatar when you hate them so much? |

Religion is immoral, what you're seeing is the exact antithesis to neocon attitudes. the French are a more advanced people they don't have dark age ideals |

I would largely agree with that statement, however what I find disturbing is that the anti-religion movement is trampling on other peoples right of beleif and practice, i.e. the French PM's move to ban headscarfs.....which in my opinion is somewhat extereme. |

from my understanding of the situation its a regulation stating that you cannot wear a religious object over a certain size, in public schools no matter what the religion?
Although i think the headscarfs are inane, i agree with you that its extreme and could be construed as discrimination against Islam (considering most other religious objects are small, except for maybe Hindu turbans ?)
but i'm a fundamental atheist and see this as progress :) |

In terms of Islam and Hinduism, you may be able to say that the banning of such things goes beyond religious aspects but into cultural ones as well all because religion and culture are heavily intertwined in places like India and Islamic countries.

As am I ;).....I would have to agree with you but I think Chirac is going about this all wrong. They're are other methods of "de-programming" of people that are not as traumatic and more subtle. |
