Ok any peeps with Windows XP please help! How do I get rid of the box surrounding the text of the names of my icons on my desktop?! I just want it so its the white text not a whole box around it, makes it look stupid :whip: Simple I know but I cant find it in Appearance of Desktop settings

Ahh... my XP is in finnish so I'll do the best I can...

Right click your "My Computer" icon and select Preferences.

There should be a page called "additional settings" (or something similar) from where you should select "Performance" and then "Visual settings".

One of the check-boxes in that menu should do the trick.

Hmm thanks mate but do you know what one it is?

Desktop right click-properties-appearance tab-effects.

There is, it's just named differently.
It should be something like "use icon text shades" or something similar.

it's "use drop shadows for icon labels" :)
