It doesn't sound so bad if you think of 3 minutes per hour but...| quote: | | Q: Will I be able to choose when to watch the ads? |
| quote: | | A: Normally, 1 minute of advertising will be shown every 20 minutes of PC usage. |
That sounds a lot worse... can't imagine being hasseled every 20 mins. And can't drink that much tea either...
I also notice that the site doesn't tell you (as far as I could see) anything about what happens should you fail to load the CD that they send you everymonth... becuase they can check through your internet connection. And you have to have the PC switched on a certain amount each month... which should actually be easy by most of our standards but for some people perhaps not.
These machines are also already slipping towards the back end of the market and you have to have this for three years with no upgrades of your own.
Try to find out what the penalty is for various things before you sign up for this, as there may well be things written in so that you may actually inadvertently end up buying it.
I live by the motto, 'If something seems to good to be true... it usually is'.
Please don't take this as an attack on yourself ABSYNTH, I understand your enthusiasm. But before I started DJing full time I used to work for a company that dealt with scams (Not saying this is) and other types of financial agreements that are designed to benefit the company through clever legal jargon.
These guys most have a finite amount of PCs too as they can only have as many as they sell advertising. It is actually quite a clever concept though but I'm not sure I like the thought of people advertising on my PC just like my TV.
Before you ever sign up to a deal like this, always find out what your consumer rights are.
Cheers

thought of this so i rang the company and these pc's are on loan only:) and i found out about this via "computer music" who have also checked it out and give it the thumbs up!

Me 2, see quote 1 and you have got a way round it so its not totally for free, they think you are gonna watch the adds.
I use a Carillon AC1 in my studio and have just got a new pc for home but if some fool is gonna give me a free pc just to download stuff of the net (with no fear of it harming any important files) then im all for it!!!

TBH I'd rather pay and be free to do with it whatever I want (and get much better system overall) and not get stuck with that. 256MB of RAM just isn't enough for anything. Even my older pc that was purchased in 2000 had more RAM than that. |

i'm definitely signing up...my roommate a couple of years ago designed a program that got rid of all the advertisements while tricking the computer into thinking he watched them...maybe i should give him a call hehehe.
edit...ah crap only UK....let me know when it comes across the pond hehehe... |

it aint actually legally urs, so if u try to butcher it for the components, ur ed as they send u a new one every 36 months in exchange for the old one...
however i did have an idea how to get around this
get some other dopey git to order it for u, using their address :D
also this is likely to be a scam, a spec of 2.4ghz etc..that would total out to something like 400 quid
for free? BS. |

Hold it you wuss!!:nervous: (only messin mate)
Im not saying this offer is the perfect deal by any means but i think it could be of some help to ppl on here, like i said before if not as a main system it could be used as a storage unit or tester for "stuff you are trying first" Either way its got to be worth a look.
