Saying most canadians shopuld be bilingual because there are french speaking people here, is the same thing as saying most americans should be bilingual because of all of the spanish speakers that live there. As well prevalency of bilingualism is higher in non-english speaking countries only because they are forced to learn english with much more pressure then we are ever exposed to. English is the language of business...and science...nuff said.
P.S. I took it till grade 10 as well, as far as I was forced to. Like many people, I have almost no interest in other languages... |

I think most people are interested in other languages, just not french ;) .. When something is forced on you I think it makes you less interested to learn it.
In Iceland we are supposed to learn Danish, since Iceland used to be part of the Danish kingdom.. Most people today don't really care to learn it, but for some reason they still speak it pretty well... I think because France is so far from Canada that maybe we aren't interested in it as much.. I know I stopped learning french after grade 6 and I don't remember much of what I did learn :)
I do however want to learn some other languages, I would love to learn spanish :D |

The difference between America and Canada is that in Canada every federal stuff must be in french and english , while in america it's english only |

j'aime bien le francais tout comme l'anglais, mais ca fait 2 ans that i moved from montreal.
i was in imersion my last year in high school here, and i tell ya YOU DONT LEARN JACK in there.
id love to learn another language, hell im trying to get into a german course right now, and im taking 3rd year university french :toothless
at the end, c'est cool etre bi-, ou meme tri-lingue, p.k. tu peux aller plus au moins partout dans le monde, pis etre capable de comprendre c'qu'on te dit, instead of smiling like a moron and repeating 'yes yes yes' cause hell knows what they'll be saying to you :D |

I like to see how these threads "evolve" from one subject to another. So from findin' out Y canadians are not bilingual anymore we now must first agree wether Fastdjmp3 is an incest pig or not. Well, on my B1/2 he ain't.. and there are more that agree with me on that.. but then..CunningFox:
