i got one of these little boxes of magic a couple of weeks ago, and me its good! i was going to opt for a cheaper FX unit, but i decided against this and got an EFX-500 and i am very glad i did so.. I thought it would basically be a posh version of the FX unit in the DJM mixers, but its miles better, much more controllable, you can do 2 FX at once (one beat effect and one jog wheel effect).. it has a memory on the jog wheel so you can just keep pressing play so you have more room in your head to do other stuff i.e. cutting, delaying etc.. not to mention the 3 band isolator, so ou can basically create your own little breakdowns lol..

i am in awe of this little box... everyone must have one of these!

anyone else have one? any views on the unit?

I've wondered for a long time how good this FX box really is, as I've heard a few mixed reviews. How does it compare?

its fantastic!

to be honest the only other dj fx unit ive used is the ones built into the DJM-500/600/3000, and i think its miles better!

most of the effects are studio quality :eyespop:
Spin Doctor
Interesting! I’ve only heard that it’s not that much better than the Pioneer on board efx!

Got a dude in my class who has the exact same FX panel... only bad thing is he never spins at all and i bet he doesnt even know how it works...

i've got one of these lying doing all in my room. I'll need to get the proper connections for it and see what it's all about.:)

I still don't know whether to buy this one or the Korg Kaoss Pad 2, but I'll prolly opt for the latter. tu_face, did you test both of them? does the pioneer have sampler features?
Dzokayi
I see it in a few rigs down here. I understand it's been recently discontinued. I'd be on the watch for the DJM909 FX to be broken out and placed into a standalone unit soon. Probably won't be cheap.

i didnt try the kaoss pad, but i heard that its not as cool as it looks, and most of the effects are just variations of the others. for solid good effects, in multiples go for the efx500.. i now aim to get a DJM-3000 so i can play 3 effects :D

the efx500 doesnt have a sampler tho, but if you about with the delay enough you can get similar effects :)

chesco: all it needs is 2 phono wires! its midi controllable too if you want to use it for production
