Hey everyone,
I got a few live sets recorded at a club here in my hometown. However, some of the sets have like a buzzing/crackling sound in them at high notes and during vocals and generally throughout the set... you guys know what the best software is to get rid of that?? Any suggestions would be wikkid.
cheers,

| since it's already distorted there isn't much you can do about it now except reduce the frequences in the parts where it's distorted.. for the future turn down your recorders input and just normalize it with sound forge when you're done recording.. no distortion that way.. |

you can get rid of pops and cracks in any decent wave editor like cool edit or soundforge. the buzzing might be tough though as you cant polish a .
i know cool edit does distortion removal, but it requires a small amount of the distortion on its own so as it can identify the correct frequencies to remove.
if all else fails try some eqing, and with enough fiddling you might get it right :) |

I use CoolEdit for everything... how do I go about using that for cracks? It's more of a crackling noise than buzzing.
And Alanzo, I wasn't the one who recorded it. I knew that they recorded it too loudly though. But thanks for the help.
Any more suggestions? |

u need cool edit pro, there is a crack/pop removing plugin, you will eed a crack for it too i think :)
as far as it being too loud, is it clipping? zoom right in and see if the top edges of the waves are squared off at 0db. if so, try some hard limiting coupled with some good eq work, do the limiting to about -2db and it might get rid of some of the horrible loud clipping noises. this only sometimes works, and it also depends on the state of the waveform in the first place :) |
