More Mixer Trouble

For some unknown reason, the Left channel doesn't work on my mixer, i.e. the output from one turntable only plays through the right speaker, and not the left. Its fine for "one side" of the mixer, but its the white cable output that doesn't work.

I'm not sure how well i am explainging this, but ive tried different leads, and swapping the turntables, anc which ever plays through the 2nd channel of the mixer has no left output. Is there anything i can do about this. Because I am just staring out its hard for me to hear things properly with the one sided output.

Can i try pulgging the turntable into the line in sockets instead of the phono one?, but i heard this can damage the turntable, is this true?

ANy suggestions? As i cannot afford a new mixer.

Thanks

Rob

ok, just as i posted this, i went to try again, and noticed that now there is no left output on either channel of the mixer, when only about 5 mins ago, there was a left output from the first channel and not the second channel.

Damn this mixer, i bought it off ebay too and have no comeback.

Any help greatly appreciated,

Rob

try some contact cleaner and some compressed air

Mixers do funny things when they have had drinks spilt in them....or if they are just bunged full of crap and dust and stuff

on my old mixer when you pushed the channel fader right up, one side used to cut out, because the fader was ed.

what kind of mixer is it?

quit possibly its not the mixer but the turntables. i had a problem with my turntable rca's where it would only play through one speaker as well. i just got my rca's replaced and now they work fine.

its not the turntable or leads, i have extensivly tested it elsewhere. I am slightly concerned that the Peak LED's light up everytime the unit mixer is switched on/off, is this normal?

Could this be anything to do with the left side not working on both mixer channels? I've heard problems in the past when people have pushed the voulume up too high and the left side has cut out.

It sounds like ed channel faders but it could be anything in the mixer really. When you move the channel faders (the uppy downy ones) is there any crackling or anything? What make and model is it? Some channel faders are replacable. If not you may be able to clean them or check their contacts. Once you say which model I can tell you how to do that maybe.

Edit: About the peak lights at startup and off yeah thats normal.

its normal if you switch it on last. if you switch the mixer on before anything else then it shouldnt really happen as there is nothing being inputed at all. could be many diff things most comon and likely is the faders but could be the conections to the cables. as previously said what make/model is it?
