My latest. It has been a while, but I think I've got Reason just about down packed now... Please lemme know what you think. Good or bad, I'm a big boy, I can take it ;)
But what I REALLY wanna know is, does it have release potential? :conf:

melodically and such everything sounds fine, apart from a couple chord progressions i don't like much.
percs are a bit too standart
sounds like it's needing more layers, or anything to keep the track more interesting apart from the synths
the breakbeat seems to be well programmed but sounds a bit too m.i.k.e.-ish and it has the be the only element in his productions that i hate
overall it sounds a bit amateurish to me. sounds like good by 1999 standarts, but nowadays trance productions have become a little bit more complex, the degree of dificulty is higher. doesn't mean a label wouldn't take it, seen worst tunes out there.
sorry for being this harsh, you obviously know what you're doing and this tunes is miles better than anything i've done :p just trying to make some constructive criticism. |

| wow, thanx alot for your honesty man... it's interesting hearing what differnt people think about it, and id rather that as a response than an average 'it's good' or 'bad'. I will try and improve my presentation... btw, can you possibly describe at which points the chord progression sounds off to you, becasue i've gotten a similar comment about one from before, and I wanna see if they match up...lol :nervous: |

I think there's a very distinct "software feel" within this track. I can't really explain it but I can just hear it somehow.
The percs are overly simple, the bass lacks depth and the beat is dull somehow. Also, the highs seem to be way too high (on that one high synth in particular), check your mastering.
I also agree about the lacking layers which are particularly hearable in the break section - it sounds empty.
That being said I do like the melodies and the song structure itself but I don't really think it's quite release-ready as such. |

not really my sorta trance, doesnt have the 'powerful' factor in it.

Thank you Mr. Mystery, your advice is always very valuable.I guess I have to try and steer clear from that 'software feel' which I know exactly what you mean (and HATE it myself). You're definetly right about the percussion... I didn't put as much time and effort into detail as I should've... With the mastering, well I wazs sure everything sounded kosher on my speakers... i tend to get highs TOO high thogh, so I'll take it as a sign and always lower it... I plan on putting ALOT of effort into this tune again, maybe a month or two of constant work (when I can) and detail... I'm not gonna give up on it becuase I feel it has potential. Only problem is I have to wait a few weeks till my bday to get more RAM and HD space... :(
Thanx for you opinion Killa DJ, and yes I guess it wouldn't be found 'powerful' for our tastes in whats powerful are differnt. Does the main lead really sound like I put a flange to it? :conf:
I TOTALLY know the tune is far from releasable as is, keep in mind I just wanted to know if the 'potential' was there...
Would love more input though before I go back into my cave to continue working... ;) |

K this track has a LOT of potential IMO, I really like the melodies and the structure but there are just some production details that need to be dealt with.
First off the kick, I think you could use a lot more power on this baby, especially in the low end. I'd also add a snarelike crunch to it as well, but definitely more lows.
Percussions are fine but simple, add more layers.
Bassline has a real nice sound IMO but it just doesn't have a full sound to it. I'd try layering it with some subbass, just try a sinewave playing underneath it and see how that sounds.
The breakbeat is nice but it needs some more going along with it.
The main lead has a dope sound but again lacks a little fullness, try lowering the filter on it or something. There's also some whitenoise along with it that's a little too sharp IMO.
Work on those aspects and I think you have a really good track here. |

great track, tons of potential, needs a few things, first, use a different kick on the break or something I dont know what it is but there's something about it that's just really annoying and overly simple sounding about it. second, it needs more layers, it sounds kind of flat. third, I put this on the PA and it sounded alright bass-wise(so that's ok for a live set) but I think it needs some sub bass for studio use.
Overall great melodies, I can hear a big ol fat epic remix of that already :) I'd do it if I had the experience :P
keep up the good work |

Thanx alot for the comments dj sean, epicerin and monkeyben. You guys actually gave me some hope... because for a while there I got really discouraged... I got some big plans for this tune, by the time summer rolls around, I will collaborate with another and turn this into something really good... in the meantime I will keep working on it and other projects...
but I appreciate some of the tips you guys gave, very helpful! :) |

| Dude.....Wicked track!!! It's pretty unique....you don't come across Trance with that much potential very often.....I especially like the break beat part. Anyway, sorry I can't give you any hardcore technical advice, so just keep on rockin...or..."trancin" as it were! |
