i never really heard all of the mix but i disagree from what i heard that it could have been better than armins essential mix for the following reasons:
holden & thompson-nothing
andy hunter-amazing
scott bond vs solarstone-3rd earth
yahel-u feel
hydra-affinity
pos-remember
solid globe-north pole
green martian-wizardry
and of course...li kwan!!
ps. im pretty sure van dyk 'set the bar' with the berlin love parade essential mix of 2000
his mix into alibi eternity has given me many great stoned moments. |

you mean the actual Love Parade set where he mixes Born Slippy into Eternity? that's not an EM, that's a 20 minute Love Parade set. and I specified STUDIO EMs, which is a completely different concept.
and i won't debate whether Ferry's or Armin's EM was better, they're equally unappealing djs for me in general. |

i see youve edited your post...no the essential mix broadcast on radio1 from the Casino or whatever its called, on love parade weekend...he mixes taiko-uo,dos,tres,quatros tune into alibi. f*ck me one of the best mixes ive ever heard.
also, its not really that different, as it was a 2 hour mix, and the djs all know that there being recorded for the essential mix. van dyk has even said that he takes this into account when playing, so its anot really a completely different concept, just a different setting.

yeah i edited it because i realized that there was something wrong with that, sorry about that. That Casino set is great but it's not related to the Love Parade, that's why I was confused.
But again it is live, which is somewhat different because the dj has to respond to a crowd as opposed to mixing it on a studio where the dj has the chance to re-do any ups and really sketch out the wholw mix without taking into account the environment of a party and crowd. |
