i entered my first tourney today, i stayed in the tourney till abuot half the people were elimanated.
i was shortstacked and the blinds were being raised so i said f*ck it and i went all in without looking at my cards. when i finally revealed my hand it was big slick AK suited. the guy took me out with pocket 8's.
going out with a hand like that makes me want to play more.
so how many of you guys out there play this game?
texas hold'em the cadillac of poker games. |

i was 4th at my table of 6th, got absolutely luck
got J5 4 different times, and i went all in and doubled up once with it
so much fun to play, esp cause i'm a born gambler :p |

I play poker a fair bit with my friends - usually pretty low stakes, 10$ buy in or so (we're all cheap/broke asses). We generally play Hold'Em and it's a lot of fun. $10 is the perfect buy in - the winner gets to feel good for winning some decent pocket change, and losing $10 isnt too serious considering you've had several hours of fun.
On a side note, we usually get drunk while we're playing which makes things interesting. I dont know if you've ever noticed this, but people are a lot harder to read when they're drinking... They become so random and gregarious predicting them is next to impossible. My friends brother is quite a serious poker player and fancies himself pretty good, but he hates playing against us when we're all wasted simply cuz he can't understand what's going on in our heads. |

That's not luck, that's poor judgement. You should be folding that sort of hand pre-flop - going all-in with it is just insanity. :p |

well when you're the BB and check into the flop, then flop a boat, its not a bad move to go all in :p
and when i finally lost i went all in against the chip leader and he rivered a inside straight when i flopped a flush
and that after i got AK of hearts and every single card in the community was a black card below 9
not my day :p |
