I know a lot of people moan about the SB Live being crap and slow for producing, having latancies on cubase and fruity of around the 100ms mark without errors.
Well... i myself had this problem, and went on search for a 3rd party driver, and found one!!!
kX Project drivers, aimed at musicians, providing its own ASIO driver which you can achieve latancies of between 2ms and 22ms without problems :)

Drivers are constantly in development, at the moment there is limited EAX support for you gamers (but you dont really notice!) and a few problems if you have a P4 Hyperthreading processor, but apart from that it should be worth a shot!!
Note: keep an eye on the forums for release candidates :) and if you have a problem, read the FAQ!!
enjoy guys! |

they've been around for a long while now..
I 've never had problems with them when I was using sb live some time ago but some people have so you'd better take some backups. Well, you always should if you use 3th party drivers |

i've used them for about 1 year with the sblive platinum.. but changed last month to the audiophile 2496 and there's a big difference in the quality.. the sound is much clearer with the audiophile..
but this drivers are the best if you want to keep the sb.. |

| Those drivers use to drive me nuts because you can only run at a sample rate of 48khz. :( |

Anyone know how to play (hear) midi files with winamp with these drivers?
I installed them a month ago and 21 ms latency is really ok. :) |

Yeh you have to go to winamp preferences and configure the MIDI input plugin, try a few different devices till you find one that works, i think i use the microsoft wavetable.

Well i use them at either 44Khz or 48Khz, it lets me change that in the ASIO. but for Audigy users theyve recently improved (or added) the 24/96 support, which is always nice :) |
