if the logo is gonna make u some money, i suggest you try and find a pad so you can use your hand to sketch, refine, detail and come up with a finished project.
do u mean you are starting your own business?
good luck! |

ok take your scan and load it up in PS.
make a new layer. Fill: Transparent or None
make sure that layer is above your original and you have it selected.
then select your pen tool and begin to trace it
Warning. the pen tool is extremely useful and probably one of the best things on photoshop but untill you get comfortable with using it, its a pain in the ass.
you start by making one point then connecting the dots. you can make curves by making an anchor and holding down the mouse buton while moving it(i think, i havent done it in awhile) adjust the curves by using the little handlebars. youll eventually see where on the curve(of your logo) to put the anchor to make the right kind of curve(for your new line layer). if you put a curve anchor, or any one, in the wrong place just delete it. Edit> Undo
just try to start drawing everything you see on your bottom layer onto the top layer. i dont know what your logo looks like so i cant go into greater depth, but try using other stuff like polygons and such, then fill them with the color you need if appropriate.
hope i could help,
Mike
see if you can put your logo up here. maybe we can help/critique if you want?
edit: minor corrections |

| You might want to get Adobe Illustrator instead. It is much more practical for what it sounds like you want to do. |

| Hey man, can you give more details on the logo? Because I would sugest to do it in Adobe Ilustrator, Free hand or Corell draw, because then you have a vertex drawing, specially if you are doing a logo, wich will be in diferent sizes, if you do it via photoshop, it will have a finite resolution, but if you do it in a prog that draws with vertex drawings you won't have a problem with resizing... |

edit: minor corrections | if you are making serious selections, the pen tool wil become your best friend in photoshop. i agree with all of this.
get used to the pen tool though (if u dont know what you are doing it will be your worst enemy in that program) and go to some photoshop help sites online. they will give you some tips about the program. |
