| ok, so here's my deal. I've been thuroughly OBSESSED with an ik7 compilation CD and love all their artists. I'm looking for tracks similar to Gry-rocket, Nicolette-no government, Nick Holder-Sometimes I'm blue, A Guy Called Gerald feat. Louise Rhodes-Humanity and Herbert feat. Dani Siciliano - Suddenly. All these tracks have alot of jazzy, bossa element but with deep bass/breaks at least IMO. I don't even know where to start with similar artists or songs. I'm picking up the Nicolette CD online but wasn't too sure what else to go out and buy. All the tracks have a female vocal, but that isn't necessary, I just know it makes you move and it feels like sophisticated music, but yet very unique. I just don't know what to call it or who to look for !!! So, can anyone recommend anything similar or even unsimiliar that you feel I would enjoy ? THANKS !!! :D Yes, I know this is NOTHING remotely close to trance, but I know alot of you seem to have alot more knowledge of other genres as well and have an open enough mind to be diverse !!! ok, i just changed the title to "acid jazz." I guess this is the genre :conf: How did it get this name ? |

acid jazz and nu jazz are not the same thing. acid jazz is related to trip hop. check out stuff in the lines of
Mark Farina-Mushroom Jazz (1,2, 3 or 4)
Massive Attack
Portishead
Tricky |

yeah i think that Farina is not what you're looking for either. is the stuff you're looking for downtempo or actually more danceable and upbeat?
you said something about bossa nova sounds so definitely check out JAZZANOVA in the Ninja Tunes label. |

Acid Jazz is pretty ancient.
I'd look through used bins of old comps if that's what's up your alley.
For the record, it went like this:
Acid Jazz -> Trip-Hop -> Starbucks :rolleyes:

Hasn't anyone heard the tracks i've mentioned ????????!!!!!!!! where is UMC ?? hes familiar with the ik7 label. i will just pm him. Xploding Plastix is really upbeat as well. ok, maybe im meaning vocals over breaks... kind of similar to Breakbeat Era - ULtra obscene... maybe that will give some leads ???? |
